Deborah Wray and Gary Davis decided to open an organic grocery store for a number of reasons. Firstly, they noticed that so many of the organic or ‘health food’ shops they visited stocked their shelves full of vitamin pills and supplements and not much else. Secondly, they were frustrated with the poor quality organic fruit and vegetable that was available and literally dying on the shelf.  Thirdly, they were appalled at how expensive organic produce was. Fourthly, they knew people wanted to buy at their convenience rather than load up with a weekly shop at a market where you need to get up at some ‘ungodly hour’ in order to not miss out! And lastly, they wanted to create a one stop organic store where you could do your whole shop under one roof.

In 2005 Deborah and Gary opened their Palm Beach store at 19th Avenue Shopping Village on the Gold Coast. The locals have embraced it so much so that in 2008 the store was moved to larger premises and now boasts a cafe. Deborah and Gary recognized that Broadbeach was also starved for an organic alternative, so in September 2006 they opened their second store at the Oasis Shopping Centre in the heart of Broadbeach. The first Brisbane store opened at Newmarket in 2007 and in 2008, a second Brisbane store was opened in the leafy suburb of Indooroopilly. Both stores include an organic cafe. In  April 2011 the Ipswich store opened & the locals are thrilled that chemical free, nutritious food is now available in their region.

The focus in a Wray Organic Market is ‘fresh’ fruit and vegetable that’s literally jumping off the shelf with life. All produce is Australian grown and sourced from local certified organic growers. Deborah and Gary are committed to offering the best possible price for their organic produce. They want this extraordinarily clean and nutritious food to be available every day and at an affordable price for everyone.
